Sialendoscopy & Success Rates

Your sialendoscopy will be performed by Dr. Atilla Şengör, who has been specializing in this field since 2004. He adapted pneumatic lithotripsy for sialendoscopy in 2007, making it possible to fragment stones within the salivary ducts.

The accessibility of stones via sialendoscopy is between 80-85%. Dr. Atilla Şengör’s success rate in removing accessible stones using the fragmentation technique is 94%. In some cases, if part of the stone remains or if recurrence occurs, a second sialendoscopy session may be necessary after 3-4 months.

The failure rate, meaning cases where the stone is unreachable with sialendoscopy, is 15-20%. In such situations, further treatment, including gland resection, may need to be performed in the patient’s home country.

Sialendoscopy is also used for widening narrow ducts (stenosis). However, the success rate in these cases is lower than in stone removal. Depending on the underlying cause, further treatment and investigations may be required.

Sialendoscopic
Salivary Gland Stone Treatment

Sialendoscopy is a minimally invasive endoscopic technique used to diagnose and treat obstructive salivary gland diseases such as stones, strictures, and chronic inflammation. Thanks to this method, many patients avoid complex surgeries, experience faster recovery, and maintain healthy salivary gland function.

To have mastered the sialendoscopy technique for salivary gland stone removal
It is necessary to have prepared the necessary equipment and infrastructure for stone crushing.
In this way, success has exceeded 90%.
Lithotripsy is required in approximately 80% of cases.
